Six Minute Style's Travel Reviews.

The World is a book, and those who do not
travel read only a page.

- St. Augustine

My parents instilled a love of traveling in me. Every two years, we’d embark on a lofty vacation somewhere in the United States. My mother wanted (and still wants) to see every nook and cranny of the country she calls home. If that meant dragging three kids onto planes, trains, and automobiles, so be it. She jokes (At least I think she’s joking. Mom?) that in the early years, we’d tromp through airports with her carrying my sister (11 months younger than me), my father carrying me, and my brother, just 13 months older than me, dragging, pushing, and pulling all of our luggage. She said she’d rather drive an old car and see the world than waste her money on car payments that kept her tied to her house. Today, my love for travel continues. My husband and I have biked in Ireland, sea kayaked in Baja, walked far too many hills in San Francisco, slept under the stars in Santa Fe, and stared at the Mona Lisa in Paris. Some trips are huge, far-flung affairs, while others are quick jaunts to a nearby getaway. We’ve camped, slept in dive motels (though that appealed a bit more to the younger version of me), and splurged, occasionally, on some pretty swanky rooms. For me, travel is as vital to my wellbeing as the two cups of green tea I drink each morning. And, just like my mother did back then, I drive a really old car.
